Hi guys, I have a question. I am in the process of selling my 1940 Plymouth, and am buying another 1940 vehicle. (Merc)... My question is, can I retain the plates I have and transfer them to the new car? It's out of state, but unregistered as it has been in storage for 50 years. I ask because these ones were hard to find, 5 digit California plates and I like them- a bunch. Thank you!
Did the plates come on the Plymouth ? Or did you buy then register to it. If the later they are the same as Vanity plates and you can transfer to the new Mercury
it was odd even gas up time in the late seventies....luckily I had both plates registered to me to keep my 396 a going....it's what we did back then....good luck with your quest !
In Missouri you just have to have a letter releasing the old numbers from that car. Then you go through the process and can use them on another.
I bought, then registered them. I saw this on the DMV website. I can pull them off when I sign the car over- yay!
Just did it--sold a 40 out of state with 40 plates. I kept them and went to DMV and transferred to my 40--$12
Yeah man, I know.... We'll see if it goes through. I found something really cool to start with. It will be bad ass!
