    Yes.......

You are entitled to your own opinion, but shortened coil springs, dearched leaf springs and air shocks, with the concurrent reduced rear axle clearance, is not a recipe for "rides like a new car" anywhere this side of 1915.

31 Vicky is right, a slammed mini truck isn't gonna ride any better than a '49 ford with dropped uprights and lowering springs.

I've done the lowered S10 thing and don't know why so many insist on going through all that effort to put that clip on old cars.Think about it logically. You gotta get a donor truck, the newest of which will be nearly twenty years old riding on a 34 year old suspension design. It will cost you the donor vehicle, the rebuild of worn suspension and brake parts, and the time and effort to weld it to your chassis and mount your core support and front clip. At this point you have a lowered vehicle that rides rough, chews up ball joints and tie rods, has unresponsive crappy steering. All you gain over a shoebox front end is disc brakes and ball joints, both of which you could add to a stock shoebox suspension for a similar cost to the DIY S10 clip.

I've had S10's and shoeboxes, and my advice is obviously just my opinion, but I wouldn't spend the time to put an S10 clip on a shoebox...

Not shortened coil springs - Bell-tech dropped springs....
Dearched leaf springs will not ride any different than brand new ones....
Air shocks are there to maintain axle clearance.....

You're right, they're almost the same...

    Shoebox dropped spindles/springs $980
    Shoebox disc brake kit $450
    Power steering kit $600
    --------------------------------------
    Total $2030

    S10 Clip $200
    Dropped Spindles/Springs $120
    --------------------------------------
    Total $320

The only way that I have seen a car get that low correctly was pulling the body and actually rebuilding/moving the suspension mounting points up on the the frame and taking the fender liners out and basically rebuilding the whole rear trunk. Keeping most of the stock geometry.

Still way way way to low to be useful on the street. Personally a good, IE expensive, airride system can do the same thing and you can actually drive the car on the street and not just trailer it to shows. But your looking at 4-5K to do it right.

I am thinking one of us does not comprehend the full effect of the parts and/ or mods you are recommending.......and, gosh darn it, I think I do :)

I think that one of us is speculating on how things might be...
While the other is simply stating fact from recent experience...
