That windshield post is a thing of beauty.

  2. Cool build.
Can you tell us more about the paint on the wheels?
It looks like a bronze metallic?
Any pearl or other secret ingredients?
    Single stage?

  4. Thanks. Your combination of old Ford parts, racecar parts and homemade parts makes for an interesting build. Definitely not a 1-800 rod.

I really like that brake caliper. Is it an old item? I tried Wilwood's site but did not see it.

The doors will be bolted on but still required time fitting and gapping. I have 4 more of these calipers if anyone is interested. 27--RAM--FIRESTONE 001.JPG 27--RAM--FIRESTONE 002.JPG 27--RAM--FIRESTONE 003.JPG

Have been working on the body. Nothing to see here. I am prepping parts to go to the platters. I like to mount the engine low. The limiting factor is the flywheel. To keep the exhaust no lower than the frame I had to do the header pipe this way. Right side curves out for starter clearance. I found the stainless steel tubing at the scarp yard. Great build, looking great! Love the "Track Roadsters" and "T" Modifieds. Just wondering though, why bother with channeling the body over the frame? The frame and the whole chassis is some slick engineering, why cover up all that neat stuff? Sitting the body on the frame would give you an extra 3" of interior height, a 3" taller radiator, and 3" less of transmission tunnel height. It would also add some visual height to the side profile, and make the car look not so long and slender. Also your line of sight would end up 3" lower through the windshield.
That grill shell and insert is killer too!
Keep on posting your progress, as l'm patiently waiting!

The grille reminds me of the Gemsa T from the old magazine cover.

A Boner. You are right on all points. I just have this thing about LOW especially the grille. This is my 29 un-channeled with a 2.5" dropped floor. I also have a 27 roadster with a 454 radiator in the trunk. It is not channeled. It also has the dropped floor. Grille shell is about 23" high. p1010008_0008_0102.jpg

Austin Cambridge had the same type shocks. My dad had a '63 Austin with them.

Shocks look very similar to MGB rear shocks.

I have been in a building slump for the past 3 months but back at the 27 now. I finally obtained a real good 53 Willys Aerowing steering box. I set it up like I had done to the 1st Aerowing box I had for mock up. The pictures show it upside down. It mounts to the RARE QC\'s--- WILLYS Steering 001.JPG RARE QC\'s--- WILLYS Steering 002.JPG RARE QC\'s--- WILLYS Steering 003.JPG RARE QC\'s--- WILLYS Steering 004.JPG overhead mounting frame. That's what I like about it. I built the fuel tank and sent the W/S template off to the glass shop. Most of the components are sanded, sandblasted and then chrome plated for a durable satin finish.

I found out the grille shell is a 1933 Pontiac. The car will be in a TV commercial for Home Depot/Husky Tools. The mock up engine will be hanging over the engine compartment. I'm not sure what they are trying to sell but I am being paid quite well. Taping 2-24-17. Afterwards I still have to build BLACK 27 005.JPG the 1925 type trunk.

  27. Neat thing about those Armstrong shocks, you can changed the fluid viscosity to modify the shock resistance. Kind of like motorcycle fork oil, same idea. I have a couple sets I have gotten off MGBs in the junkyards. I believe they're the rear shocks if my memory is right.
