There have been a few discussions on here about the Great Race and just thought I'd let everyone know that the Great Race is starting in San Rafael, California on Saturday, June 18th. Some of the cars aren't HAMB friendly, but some of them have cool period-correct speed parts. The cars are scored for period correct components, so if you have a 1932 Ford with a 283ci SBC, it gets scored as a 1957. The older the car, the higher the "age factor" which helps the overall score. The person closest to ZERO on the pre-determined time (after 2,400 miles of driving) wins. It's a test of endurance, and accuracy...something old cars are not known for. This year there are 120 cars registered for the race, and it's loosely following the Lincoln Highway, ending in Moline, Illinois. There are a bunch of cool stops in 19 towns along the way (lunch and overnight stops). Highlights for this year's trip is a visit to the Bonneville Salt Flats, Mount Rushmore, Badlands National Park and lots of good scenery. Here's a link to see when and where the Great Race will be stopping this year. I'm also adding some pictures of some of the speedsters, vintage race cars and hot rods that enter the race. http://www.greatrace.com/2016-city-stop-schedule
