It's that time again! Mark your calendar and come hungry, June 11 2016 Actually it's a little past "that time" but have no fear my fellow midwesterners, the grill will be lit again. Here's the schedule: At 10 am we will meet at THE BIG BISCUIT (4821 West 6th St, Lawrence, KS) for late breakfast. We thought a late breakfast would be good for guys traveling from far away places like Inman, KS At noon we've planned a super cool tour of the new hydro-electric plant in Lawrence. After that we will be traveling to the site of the bbq, we've reserved a shelter at Clinton Lake. It's Bloomington Beach East, Group Shelter 6. map here We are hoping to eat around 3 pm. We will supply the meats but if you'd like to bring a side that would be cool. See you there!
Awesome - now if I can only get one of these cars to run long enough to make the 10 mile trip to the lake!!
Yeah, I hope you guys can make it. We are also talking about getting some camp sites Saturday night if anyone is interested in doing that. I'm going to try to bring out the gypsy wagon.
For anyone who is new to this deal here is a little history. Jay Sweet started the HAMB-B-Q about 100 years ago in Abilene KS. We had a lot of great times out there, ate a LOT of excellent food. This is the event that taught me the HAMB was much more than a thing on my computer screen. I met some great people and became fast friends. After Jay moved out to the east coast Zach and I said we would give hosting a try. We're not to Sweet level hospitality but we're getting better every year! If you can make it out we promise it'll be a good time.
I am again not going to make it, we some bmx racing going on. I really hate missing some of these great get togethers, but I figure that my boys and I are building memories.
I don't think the salmon are running in Clinton Lake this time of year so I'll do my best to bring some to throw on the coals.
Bill! I was hoping you'd bring the fish as per tradition. I can't stand the stuff but my wife and kids love it.
