any tricks for getting the key out of the switch on a '39 ford. the key turns fine and even locks the steering wheel like it should but i can't get it out of the switch. i've wd 40'd it and jiggled the key while turning the wheel back and forth some but just can't get it to come out. thanks for any help.
Usually means the lock cylinder or key or both are wore out. Thoes old brass keys get pretty rounded out after years of use.
i have the same problem with my 1939 Ford coupe, so I turned the switch9screwdriver) on and left it. The toggle switch does the electrics so all is good.
My '39 Standard didn't come with a key, so we found one (50's maybe?) & shoved it in there. It works (sort-of). Like birdman1 says, the toggle works fine. No one under 60 would know how to start it anyway.
