Based on taller side covers? My eye is not trained on these things. Thanks!

Yes the side covers are the easiest clue.

  6. Ya gotta admit that's some special patina!
Kinda like our 52 pickup we just dragged in. We plan on a modern motor, IFS, rack and pinion, disc brakes, you know the usual stuff. Paint the inside nice and fresh. Steel wheels with black walls. Leave the exterior "as is".

Even my wife said it looks cool. She is not going to like seeing it in the front yard. (wont be long)
It should change a bunch once we give it a scrub.
    Lets see that 52 patina!

The tall side covers and the fuel pump behind the side mount bolt holes say 292. The smaller engines have the fuel pump in front of the motor mount.

I didn't even know that they made those is LWB.

The LWB trucks are easy to shorten, did that.

Excuse my ignorance, but what Patina?
That's a dirty old truck, beaten and left for dead, getting a new lease on life.
Paint it, if paint will be over your budget, okay but the use rustolium.

A LWB is so cool, and it migth be that your wife sees. :D

In my best Burt munroe voice; dirty old trucks need love too!"

Well, those came even longer. Here in the greater Detroit area someone did a hot rod build of it and I never did like it. Useful as is? I sort of like the storage van idea if it was priced right, and as far as a shop that can use it, that too is a good idea. I don't see it being a "kool" hot rod but one helluva novelty item.

There is different types of cool!

It will never be a hot rod truck, but it's way cool to pull up to a swapmeet, throw in a roadster body, a SBC, 5 matching steelies in different colors and a 4 speed, and throw them all in at the same time, instead of making a three trips in a OT 2009 F-series.

It's all fun and games, till someone jokes about a OT DD :D

And a AD truck ain't never un-cool, as long as you don't mind driving it.
But also never a hot rod truck.

'brynk, for the record I was speaking of the local extra long version. Had to be a foot (meter?) longer and originally had windows in the side doors (2 sets of side doors). They filled in the windows and did some typical Easter egg paint, added some "on sale" blade lookin mags, called it a hot rod truck. Sad, not kool. Shortened? Coulda been. Left as is but semi-restored? Also coulda been. As always, kool is a relative term and I certainly didn't relate...
