The 60's,"Grass, Gas or Ass, Nobody Rides for Free", Not a ref to girls "Haulin Ass" from my racing days, "Bravest of the Brave" very fine line to "Dumb as a Box of Rocks" "Hero or Asshole Move" Hero when you get away with move, Asshole as your flipping over fence, why did you think you would get away with that move ? These few poped into my old brain this AM.

  6. "Hammered", could refer to the coupe with the mail slots or the driver. LOL

Cuttin a fat hawg in the ass or haulin the mail both come to mind as well and both mean the same thing.

When I was in high school in the Pacific NW, "Runnin the gut" meant cruising main street.

Bump stick refers to a cam shaft, loud peddle refers to the gas peddle and loud season refers to anytime that it is not winter around here.

Not a "HAMB" ish phrase, but a car phrase none the less. I picked it up while at a SCORE race in Mexico while trying to cross the course:

Me shouting at a local: Compa! Is it safe to cross here or are there booby-traps?
Local: Jes. Jew can play a cross here, perro jou're gonna need four times four!

It took me a few moments to realize that he meant 4 wheel drive (4x4). The custom plate on my chase vehicle now reads "4TIMEZ4"

"Goes like a scalded cat", "Runs like a raped ape" are the two I use most often.

For me, I'm going back to the "stupid things said/heard at the parts store, car show, cruise night, race track" threads. Some real meaty, automotive subjects there, as well.

  16. OK but let me tell a story first.

City cousin goes to Montana to stey with the country cousin. The city cousin says "what do you do for excitement around here." So the country cousin throws a case of beer in the cooler and they load up on the ol cowboy Cadillac and head for the hills. They try cow tippin' and jungle ridin' for a while when they come up on this sheep with its head stuck on the barb wire. The country cousin says "Hot dang" and jumps out and starts pourin' it to that ol sheep. Then he says, "Dang that were fun wanna try?" the city cousin says, "OK, but do I have to stick my head through the fence?"

OK back to car stuff, "beater, and heap" both mean drivers.
