V-12, poor fuel mileage, in Europe to boot, I saw many in early '50's in America, with Mercury V-8s swapped in.

Actually that style of Continental came out in '42 with horizontal bar sort of grille theme. When production resumed in '46, they changed the grille design to a somewhat heavier and less attractive egg-crate style grille. These remained unchanged through '48 when Continental production ceased. As stated, the flathead V-12 in these and the other Lincoln lines was a poor engine. Many Continentals in the '50's got a Mercury OHV V8 which was much more satisfactory. The Continental name remained out of production until the return of the '56 Mark II.

That's a BEAUTIFUL Drive in movie location. Just look at how the screen is framed. Looks pre 1950 to me though. The cars are all older.

Many years ago when Evergreens' McMinnville Oregon air museum was being readied to display the "Spruce Goose"; there was some components stored in a warehouse across the street from where I worked.
Never knew the story why they were there; but I looked in the big doors at those parts everyday when I got off work.
