I thought that all '40 coupes started life out with flames, and some were just repainted to put the fire out.

 

Almost forgot that it's Fat Fender Friday!!

No worries, that's why they have a firewall between the flames and the wood!

 

Friday evening, my dad handed three 3 1/2" square photographs that were pulled from my aunt's photo collection. Friday night was the first time I ever saw these photos.

These are of the day that she and my Uncle Bob bought the '40 stake truck from HH Rathbun, in St Louis.

 

As a kid I lusted for a 40 Ford. I was always on the lookout for any setting anywhere. Still makes my heart beat a little faster when I see one. Even four doors.

Forty Fords of Orange County

 

The Orange County 40 ford club show is an event I have on my bucket list! What is the connection with the 50 Olds? I have known more than 1 Fordy owner that has owned a Rocket 88! I love the color of the coupe that is on the poster.

40 convert I bought last year . previous owner had for 45 years .in 78 he put in a nova drive train and did a repaint in 84. I woke up the car a liitle with new 350 crate , new turbo 350 and new 8 inch and new wiring and all stainless exhaust and a/c along with new gauges and lime works 40 shifter. here is a picture when i got it and some after pictures.

I had planned on going to their show back in 2014 while I was out on the west coast for the LA Roadster show because their show is the following weekend. I even registered for the show (which gets you a free T shirt), but I was running out of money and I got cold feet about returning home alone in the 40 so I opted to return with the guys who I had come out with. I thought about joining the club then, and I probably will join. Just have to make it happen!
