mine I would like for it to be nicer but I have too many other things I have to spend money on.
But one day it will be slick.
It is probably going to Bowling Green to the hot rod reunion in about 6 weeks.

For sure...the yellow paint was applied with absolutely no prep probably 20-30 years ago and had almost no adhesion, in fact, huge areas had come off just driving down the road apparently. I was able to strip areas, razor blade wide in 3 and 4 ft long strips in most areas. Took a little work in areas where the paint would have puddled, like right at the curve in the running boards, also, found it was painted yellow over orange in some places. Sounds like a lot of work, and it was, but it all stripped off pretty easily, once I put my mind to it.

Pretty wild headers, I'm poor too, seems to be getting worse, we'll see,.I have a 340, complete motor, that has 2 (two) oil galleries on each side. One on each side is plugged off, some one bored and built it in 1968, by dates on rod bearings, with flat top TRWs forged in it.It has a june 67 casting date, but I have never seen another 340/318/273/360 with 2 oil galleries to the heads on each side. With a 318 you could be running a A904 or 999,but I imagine they take a lot of money to get them as tough as the 727.
Does it still have the torsion bars? 8 3/4?I love the single 4 tunnel ram for a street motor, and your hood's already cut....

    Hey randy.
That 340 you got will be bitchin in your Plymouth.
No, I am no longer running the factory front suspension. The car is now riding on a straight axle and leafs. The rear end is a o/t ford 8.8 out of a explorer, a good rear end and very affordable in the pick-a-part yards. Just took the time to do my research and got one with lsd and 31 spline axles from the factory. 20151224_105749.jpg

they are corvette 8 inch rallies.
I kind of wanted it to look like an old Junior Stock race car that might have been found somewhere.
If you look at a lot of the old HOT ROD magazines from the 60s there were a lot of racecars that were that way

I am building a Studebaker with a big block, and the guy who started the project put a 8.8 out of a 78 0r so Granada,in it. I eventually will have to address the highway gears and open rear. I would drop in a 8 3/4 out of a B body mopar but this job quit making money a long time ago. The owner may rather have the highway gears now.

  17. I have many pictures! It's a late 31 widebed model A. It's got a dropped axle in front and a roadster spring in the rear. Tires are 5.50x17 front and 7.50x17 rear. v8 trans and a stock banger.

I have no plans to paint any of the exterior since rust is a non issue here in sunny Phoenix. I will probably do what i can to save and clear the dash and doors to keep them where they are, since some of that "wood grain" is still there.

  19. For a thread titled "Running and rotting", I see very few on here that are rotting. Most of these look like pretty nice vehicles.

Thanks for the reply, I think your truck's pretty near perfect. What axles and brakes are you using?
I can't build anything yet (saving to build a house and working on a new business) so only thinking, planning and dreaming at the moment. I keep coming back to Model A and 33/34 pickups (via woodies) and trying to figure out how to get the family (wife and one son) into one!

  21. Thanks Man. It's a model A axle I had dropped for the front and a stock model A rear. . Brakes are 1940-48 ford.

I'll admit it's not running and one day I'd like for it to shine...but for now it's au natural. Hoping to log some miles sometime this year.
