a couple updates. Thinking a diorama would be cool with a christmas tree starting line if I can figure out how to hide the prop to hold the car up. Also got the engine near complete aside from touching up some odds and ends.

  2. Found a bunch of 1/8 scale hotrod's in the local modelcar store, there where a lot of other original 50's and 60's kits too. If any one is interested in them they are for sale at www.toms.nl.

  3. Darrell, maybe you could anchor the rear bumper to the "drag strip"? Nifty Nomad in any case!

    Thanks!

So today I had a little mishap.. While trimming some of the chassis the knife slipped and apparently I had a little too much force behind it.. I ended up breaking off part of the most of the front suspension.. Wouldnt have been a big deal but those pieces that broke off ended up going into the abyss of the garage.. Soooo back to the drawing board and decided to make this a gasser.. Little cutting, trimming & we had the front axle. Still need to make the steering linkage but I have some ideas for that.

  5. Good morning! and Happy Mothers Day! I hope to see some cool models here today. I have started a 32 Vicky build. But I'm as slow on it , as I am on my real 27 coupe build. And the older I get, I find that it's more fun to play with them, then it is to work on them. My grandson was here yesterday, and we broke a lot of the cars, with the slot cars. lol. I guess I will need to get the glue out .ha ha . The last time on here I posted some of my Old 32s Fords. So today I'll thought that I would post some 40 FORDS. One of my favorite years also. If anyone likes these older models, I will keep posting some of them. If not that's ok too. But just let me know. And Thanks for posting your builds. Ron... 004.jpg 015.jpg

[IMG] Here's my 51 Bel Air that I just started. I'm going to shave all of the body trim and moldings/emblems. Would like to chop it, but still trying to research on how to go about it. Any advice or opinions welcomed, haven't built a model in 15 years.

  7. While waiting on the wife to get ready for church. I took a few more close ups of the 40s. I hope you all post some up dates today of your models. Ron... 005.jpg 006.jpg

Last week I posted a 37 cabro. This week is a resin body of the big club coupe. This was probably built 15 years ago before the stock earth tone colors that guys are spraying on the 1 to 1 scale cars. I guess I was ahead of the curve. IMG_0725.JPG IMG_0727.JPG IMG_0729_2.JPG IMG_0730.JPG

A quick mock-up of an AMT '57 I just sprayed in '57-8 Oldsmobile "Rose Mist". W/the straight-axle set-up from the AMT '55. I'll be using one of the 409's, supercharged or injected.
W/ the hood cut to fit.
Or, if no hood, carve the molded-in hood bar out.
    Searching for the right stance.

Thanks I,m a bit of a detail freak. I,m a finish carpenter by trade so if you are not a detail guy you dont have very many jobs(i will go back to my saw a half a dozen times to tweak a miter if I have to)! It also reflects in my hot rod builds also. IMG_0757.JPG

I havent built models for the last 8 or 9 years, but when I was into it heavy an average build would take a minimum 2 to 3 months, a few hours a night, sometimes up to a year on and off. I belonged to a club and we would have theme builds with other clubs so a guy knew a year in advance what to get ready for.

I wish I had time to build models now. Here is one I did 3 years ago, revell kit with a slight rechop and the grill surround and trunklid moulded in
