i just picked this up from the chrome shop. Beautiful work from R & D Finishing of Elizabethton, TN. Also, a big thank you to Donnie Smart for the beautiful core and the installation of the center 7 bars.
I was afraid to look...you know...some people have very ummm odd tastes on bling. ..then the pics loaded from the bottom up to the top, and I almost s--- when I saw the seat belt lol
over the years, I've owned a bunch of projects - all with plans to finish them to a high level. Some were driveable, others were not, when they were either traded or sold. This one is getting the plating done, the pieces that I really want, and done in the style I've always loved - mid-to-early '60s drag race car. I'm using a narrowed '59 Pontiac rear (posi), Borg Warner T10 four speed trans, dual 4bbl carb equipped 301 Chevy (bored 283). The stock drop Model A axel has been drilled & chromed. The car will be a nose high, medium/dark blue, HOT ROD.
I am lost in the 60s...so that type of build is pretty cool for me to read or see on hamb. Trying to think of the last time somebody said 301 .... and..with 2 fours .
Yeah, that's a pretty good time to be lost in though! I can hear that engine winding up in my head right now. Good times indeed!
I thought y'all would get a kick out of seeing the 301 short block. No Regular gasoline for this little beast! As Tim Allen once said, "If a little bit is good, a whole lot is better, & too much is JUST RIGHT"! Insert your best Tim Allen grunt here.
Did you fill the nose emblem in on the grille? I don't know if I have seen that done before or I never noticed. Very not bad!
WOW! That is nice. Glad you can recommend them. I have a '33 that I need done. Anyone in particular to talk to?
The mounting holes are still there. The stock bezel, trim, & emblem will be installed. My car will look like it was built from a nice original car. I'm using the stock pedals, steering column, and as many original pieces as I can. Thank you for the kind remarks. I've been collecting these pieces over a period of several years. It's now time to make them an assembled unit, rather than just a pile of parts.
You can speak with any of of them. They're very nice folks to deal with. Thus far, they've plated my front axle, the clutch & brake pedals, this grill, and they are in the process of playing the rear brake backing plates. I'll be taking several more pieces, as they're ready. I'm anxious to see this thing finally come together.
Thanks! Guess I need to take my grille by and get an estimate. Come by, if you get to the the big city of Rogersville. Bill
Few things are as beautiful (or expensive) as an newly chromed 33-34 Ford grille. That grille would even make a turd look good.
Plus I like the idea of the dark blue. I painted my 3 window a dark wash. blue and really like the way it turned out. Check out my build page on here......
That grille is stunning!!!!! the build looks pretty exciting, Keep at it, It'll be great to take that 1st ride in that one.
Thanks, everyone, for the kind remarks & complements. It's funny how a few shinny pieces can stoke the fire of enthusiasm. I'm headed for the garage.
