Just got this press today . It's about 8 feet tall weighs around 8,000 lbs and has a steam powered cylinder on it that's about 18" in diameter. I bought it from a guy of epic proprtions named Pete Burno. He built this press when he was an apprentice in a shop down in Bellville Illinois way back in the late fortys. He used it to press big f#! $@ng bearings. They sure don't make them like they used to! I am going to convert it into a 100 ton forging press. Let's see some pictures of some big beautiful old shop equipment!

Here is the head gear and counter weight that bolts to the top of the frame. It draws the ram back into the cylinder

That is one massive piece of equipment. The machine shop down the street from where I work has been setting belt driven pieces of equipment out side for sale lately including a mill and drill press but I can't figure out anything to convert that particular drill press to. The mill looks like it sat out back in the weather for years.

With a Gutenberg style louver floater, you could do a hood in one punch!

I can just imagine how big the air compressor to get that thing to work as a forging press would be.

Here's another cool old piece of equipment that my buddy just bought from the same guy I got the press from. It's a metal planer. The bed is 9'long by 24" wide and can accommodate a 24 " tall piece of material. It's kinda like a beefier more accurate shaper
