Anyone else building old dodge/plymouth other mopars?

They called it the "brougham", originally, but after a few weeks, they renamed it to the "coupe-brougham".

 

I remember maybe 10 years back,and friend of mine were eating lunch away from home,and on a whim picked up their local edition of one of those "cars for sale" pulp magazines you see all over. Got to flipping thought it,and one T-bucket add caught my eye despite me having zero interest in t-buckets. It was the long runners and the dual 4 barrels sticking out past the cowl that got my attention. Read the add,and it was supposed to be a genuine Max Wedge 413 with a push-button 727,4:56 rear,and 18 inch wide drag tires on the rear. When I read the last line that said "car is fast",I got a little giggly. Yeah,I suspect it was fast. Those max wedge 413's were pulling low 12's on 7 inch street cars that weighed 4,000 lbs and were about as aerodynamic as a brick back in the early 60's. If you could get that t-bucket to hook up,it would be like being fired out of a rocket.

 

Speaking of long running,we are talking about Mopars.

 

I feel your pain. I have a 37 Dodge 1 ton pu.

These things were only made 37,38,and 39,so parts are really hard to find.

If that green Victory Six has the package tray behind the driver seat like mine (and I think it does- Doug would know, he's seen the car ), then it is a Deluxe Coupe'
SOMEDAY, I will complete the interior for mine- met a gentleman from Tennessee today at Brad54's swap meet that has a rear seat I may be able to use!!!!!!

 

My books say that that version is called the "4-passenger coupe".

 

After receiving this 6 years ago, I finally was able to get it running late last fall. Engine rebuild, new transmission, u-joint style drive shaft, 12V, disc brakes w/dual reservoir master cylinder, new brake lines and a split intake with Carter B&B carbs. I'm going to just enjoy driving it like it is this year.

Ran a 413 wedge in a chopped and channeled , fender less , 36 Buick 3 window back in 91-92 on the east coast, any one have a pic.....

Here is my 58 Belvedere I stumbled across about a week ago.

 

Here's my '36 plymouth. Drove it in high school in 1967. After a career, raising a family and many other cars I plan to have it on the road again this summer.

About to start my next one, as well.

 

I have a stock 1949 Dodge Panel Truck. What is a good drive train to put in it and what front suspension would be best ? I want a reliable engine - high HP and fast are not necessary. I thought about a slant six.

Slant sixes Rule! Lots of good info at www.slantsix.org . I wanted to put on in my 51 Plymouth but it's too long. So have a 318 instead. Good luck, Elba, and please keep us posted.

Hi elba! The slant six is a great engine but so is the flat six that came in your truck. The flat six has great torque and is bullet proof. It was used in Mopars till 1959. It has thick walls so can be bored out easily in a rebuild. Lots of cool dress up stuff and duel carbs available. It will cruise with the best of them. Especially if you adapt a newer transmission with overdrive and updated rear.

 

This is my 33 I've been driving for over 30 years. Started with just the body and frame.

 

I have a 1949 plymouth ( 4 door ) and I'm really inspired by drag culture, do you think I could pull off a 4 door dragster?

 

Just a note on those 4 inch air filters, they don't flow enough and will cause a bit of a rich mixture on dual carb set ups. Simplest fix is to double them up with a longer piece of threaded rod. better is to find something that looks good but breaths more.
