Ill post pics of models when I can but my full size rides are not considered "HAMB Friendly".. lol

 

I want to take a second and think everyone for all their post. I also want to thank everyone for all the cool ideas. I never attended a model show, or realized how detailed and serious you modelers are. Thanks for letting me post on here. I didn't know there was a thread for vintage models until just recently. My stuff fits much better there. I've been building, [ playing ] with them since a kid. To give you an idea how long that is. When { Famed 48} asked, were do you get your chrome reverse wheels. I thought of posting a photo of one of my many boxes of parts. So here is one just for the FUN of it. By the way what is Alclad ? looks like cool stuff, and where do you get it? I love constructive criticism, plus any, and all of your ideas. I'm leaving tonight on a road trip with the grandkids. So I won't be posting any Sunday models this week. Hey Ron, did I mention that my birthday is coming up sometime this year

 

To put it briefly, Alclad is a line of paints designed to replicate various types of metals. Most famous for their "chrome" lacquer paint. See my previous post for reference. The principle is to use gloss-black enamel for base, and airbrush a thin film of "chrome" paint (=aluminum essentially, to the best of my understanding) on top. Looks really accurate, to my eye anyway. Opens up infinite possibilities to chrome-plating plastic parts at home.

Alclad is a "chrome" paint It is applied over back enamel or acrylic paint. I have only zeen the airbrush version, but I have been told it is available in a spray can. There is also a spray can paint called "Spaz Stix" that some people prefer.

 

I guess I put enough weight in the nose!

 

. Flashpoint Resins Body 1/24_Scale . At this time no bodies a being cast. I still managed obtain a body, very lucky in deed!!

 

The Willys is coming along nicely, I've had a quite week work wise, so I've had some time in the shed, so much in fact, that I completely reorganized the place, in between beating on this Willys.
So here's two progress pics.
First is the body, almost done paintwise, with new driver door in white, started.
Second is the decklid, a little worse for wear.

 

Glad the guys have filled you in about Alclad, Ron. You might not be "serious" but that tub of wheels is! Wow!

Here's a project that's been sitting on the backburner, apologies if I've posted this image before. It started as a Lindberg '40 Ford and still needs tons of work:

 

I've never worked on a resin body. Any difference from standard models? I really like the look of that Willys what scale is it? The 40 custom is gonna be sweet..

 

Added decals, installed headlights, cleaned up the hood spears and mounted them, looked at where I'll mount the battery and finally sat the engine in place and I don't think the hood will clear..

 

Where did you get that high rise Two Lane Black Top intake manifold?Very cool!

 

I got a 49 ford convertible coming togather with AMT 49 and 50 parts,my dad had one in a similar color back in the early 50s. I have some old color pictures and I think the color of the interior was maroon but not certain on the color of the top and might get changed to black.

 

Spex, that 40 is wild! Keep going on it; I'm intrigued.

Here is a 50 Olds I just finished,it only took me a little over a year to finish.

 

I built one about 15 years ago,I started to destreetrod it by installing a flathead but thinking about rebuilding with a little more traditional chassis and interior.

 

My uncle has a kind of hot rod parts and book store in a local flea market. I was there today looking thru a box of model car decal sheets. I ran across this one. Anyone know what it's about??

 

I know this isnt the right place for this but thought I would throw this out there.. If this isnt acceptable then please ignore or mods can delete..

#1 - Datsun 240Z - Box was a little roughed up but I did open it and everything looks to be in good shape. And bag is still sealed.



#2 - Ferrari Enzo - Just opened today to verify. All bags sealed.



#3 - Corvette C6R - Previously opened and everything is still sealed and present.



#4 - 2002 35th Anniversary SS Camaro - Previously opened and all bags are sealed. I did rob a couple decals from this kit. SS emblem & t-top decals to be exact.

 

Auto World was/is a hobby shop in Scranton PA . They did a huge mail order business in the 60's & 70 's . They put out really cool catalogs with kits , tools , paint and other supplies . They were also big on slot cars of all scales . I think they still sell HO slots . I believe they are still in business , but on a smaller scale . If you search e-bay , you may find an old catalog or two .

 

And that's just what came out of the vacuum after they cleaned up his work area!

I finished another obscure race car I saw run in the 60's. It was a northern CA that I saw at Fremont, and finding any info on it is impossible. I had one pit shot of it at Fremont, and Steve Reyes had a couple from Salinas, and Les Welch, after my prodding him, finally came up with a couple color shots. I can scratch this one off my "bucket list" now.

 

I bought a few sets at Hobbytown in Wichita.

I built this a few years back, and a well known Hot Fodder needed it more than I, so I sold it to him.
