Actually this is the Cook Brothers & Jahns sidewinder, blown Dodge on fuel. It has a jack-stand starting system, fire the engine, raise the car on the jacks, crew pushes it to the starting line, starter flags is, drop jacks, and off you go. San Gabriel ultimately banned it. Jeff Jahns, the driver, was from the Jahns Quality Piston family.

  8. Joe Pisano was the reason for going to the Chrysler. Joe owned the engine. Gary always ran the Speed Sport scoop, and had "Chizler Too" lettered on the radiator panel. I have always wondered what the connection was to the Greek?

I don't think any of us can be sure about the Bones & Durbach photo...I can't tell if it has wrinkle walls or not...the Bones, Durbach, and Pisano does....before or after crash...Dean is right about the ChiZler on the grill insert...

Actually I am glad you raised the question...it was a good one and we got to sift back through gasser history.

Try posting this to, https://www.facebook.com/groups/IrwindaleRaceway/. Two of the three pics I've seen, so far, were shot at Irwindale, so somebody over there may have a clue... or, at least an idea.

Far side is Bob Dunn's Fiat which later morphed into the T bucket shown in Al G's post #50554. Near side is John English who raced this 32 Ford for many years, initially with the flathead and later with a big block Ford.
