Technical Early 28 model a oil pan

    Just want to double check when I change the oil I loosen the big middle bolt correct?

    That's a good oil pan to have- you can service the oil pump screen without dropping the whole pan .
    Model A's are like Harleys, they always leak! A guy told me they mark their territory that way.

    That's not a new issue. Oil leaks have been around as long as engines have.

    Drips yes but this maybe more as I have driven very little. Changing it tomorrow will be able to see better after what's what

    If your fords not leaking,check the oil it's probly empty!

    Model A does not have a rear main seal. They just have a slinger. If you drive or park on a steep incline, oil will run out the back. AA trucks had a check ball, so oil would not run into the grain hopper back when they would dump the grain by tipping up the whole truck at the grain elevator.

    Dad put a seal in his '31 pickup, and has not been happy with it. To install the seal,. you have to machine the slinger off the crank. Other than that, his truck runs great. So, he installed a can under the motor to catch the oil. The can has a petcock on it, that he drains.

    And this is what a Crosly looks like.

    A radio. And everybody knows radios don't leak oil.
