anyone has information on this Bugatti with registration 7V 69 68? Thanks!

 

Well I can tell you that's Arvol Brunmier standing behind the car with his bride, if that helps. Location most certainly Southern California, probably LA suburb Whittier.

 

There is a photo of the couple in the Bugatti, a 3/4 rear view in a book on big cars ( sprint cars ), I'll post it if I can find it. Is that a frog on the radiator stone guard? Bob

 

Still looking for that Bugatti photo. I wonder if that was the same GP car Bunny Phillips ran at INDY in 1936. Bob

 

The three Bugs in that MILLER swap were Type 43's the slick touring cars. The GP car in the above photo had to have some Bunny Phillips handy work done to it, far too nice to be a straight factory job, cowl flair and true Hartford shocks. There must be a detent of some type in that hand crank, stock ones just fall to the bottom, Phillips car in the INDY photo has the same feature. Bob

 

Bunny Phillips had apparently two Bugattis, at least he entered two in May '32 for a race at Fresno/CA. Since Brunmier married in June that year, that makes it highly possible it was one of those cars. Interestingly, Phillips seems to have made only one entry at a time after this initial appearance of two. One car, however, caught fire following an accident at Oakland in January '36 - not sure if it "survived"; the driver did but never raced again!

WOW! Thanks for that link bugatti7 ! The Philips Bugatti Type 35 that ran INDY was chassis #4748. It was later fitted with the rebuilt MILLER engine that almost killed Hitler. Google that for the story. Car was totally restored when Dr. Peter Williamson owned it, not sure who the current caretaker is. Bob

 

And then ignore it. Hitler wasn't there. He wasn't even in Berlin. IIRC (no time to check) Goebbels had been at the opening ceremonies but then left.

Kurtis looks like Oldfield in one of the 445 cubic inch Mercers as he raced at Santa Monica in February of 1914. I believe this is the car he finished second with to De Palma in the 1914 Vanderbilt Cup run on 2/26/14. Cool photo-young guy probably thought so too.

 

Perhaps Uruguay or Argentina, Maldonado could be the town or name of driver.

Crap forum software. If it wasn't for this thread and the Sprint Car one, I'd have long given up on this forum. It's extremely ugly in design and very awkward for usage. Then again, that seems to be a universal trend in internet software these days. "Customers? Who cares."
