I'm thinking of ordering Vern Tardel's books. Maybe all of them. Are they worth it? Any reviews? Just want a little feedback from anyone who's purchased them. Thanks.
I just read the tranny book, very well done. No glitz or glitter, 'just the facts, ma'am, just the facts'. It's the kind of book you think about after reading and then read it a couple more times so it sinks in.
Banjorear... We have been spending some time in the garage. Mostly gathering the stuff for putting juice brakes and a dropped axle in the '33. I want to make sure I have everything, or mostly everything, before tearing into it. Was looking at the Tardel sight when I found the series of books.
I got the full set for christmas a few years ago. No earth-shattering prose, but with all the concise info, they have become indispensable in the garage.
If you want a review : They have some good information and they have some missing information (that is important to know.) They are not written by a technical writer and the pictures are not the best for helping a someone understand who has never been there. If you need help in one of these areas, I would look at other books out there on the subject. Vern had his own way of doing things and as such, it is presented that way in his books. It's not necessarily the wrong way, but there is more information that one should know and have at hand to make decisions on their rebuild. my .02
