Don't know what source you have for upholstery, but "Fabric Place" has some pretty wild stuff. ( check to see if one's at a Mall near you ?). ( good place to get ideas too)
I was out with the wife one afternoon, and she said she had to make a quick trip to the fabric store on the way home. WTF?? I hate "shopping"!!
BUT I went in to see the Mall Chicks, got into the store, saw the weird shit they sell, and she had to ask ME if I was ready to leave!!
Leopard print, angel hair, metal flake, etc. That place is off the hook!

This is another hot rod that Bud Hinman built, right around the same time that he built the car that I found. I recently sent him pics of the car, the way that I found it. He called me on the phone and said that it still looks exactly as it did, when he last saw it, in 1955!!!! IMG_20160205_150934.jpg

That is the original grill shell, the hood is mine, and I will be running it, the floors are actually the belly pan with the torque tube tunnel bolted and welded to it and the Back wall...none of this would have worked without turning the frame inside out, creating more space to sit down in between the frame. Very inovative!

  7. Wow, what a grate story. I see now this little Roadster got in the best hands possible. Congrats on doing all the home work and making the best choices for the car. I can see you'll get it done in grand style.

  15. That being said, are you trying to somehow blend the patch panels into the car, so that no one can tell?
Interested to see how you do it. Definitely want to see the car later on...

  20. WOW I don't know if it is mentioned in the text but I just noticed that the frame rails are swapped from right to left ( and vice versa). I wonder why they did that?

I love this car so much.

It was covered earlier, it was so that the frame bows outward in the middle instead of inward so the seating area could be lowered.

  22. Wow, the new power plant looks great.
Not much room between firewall and carb.
Imo, leave patch panels to naturally age.
Making them match the patina would be fake, and this cars to cool for fake anything.

New front axle by Andrew Kohler installed, F1 steering box installed in the original mounting bracket and clamp system ( the original steering box and axle were badly broken) original Edmunds Costom 2/2 intake installed on the new engine, new master cyl, wheel cyls...should be drivable in the next fee weeks!

  25. That should be fun to tune those carburetors! It is so rad that this is going to be breathing life again, while still preserving its history. Great job!

  26. Nice to see the character and more importantly all the major parts of the car being used in it's rebuild.
Did you find out if that's the original grille?
