She is back down on all four wheels, and ready to ship out to start chassis work. I will be lowering the rear for sure, and hopefully the front also. Stay tuned. 12119747_10205947261745094_1660344116_o.jpg

Got her out to Mikes and gonna start tearing into it. Threw the motor and trans in to see where everything sat in relation to the mid plate that was already in the car. Looks like its pretty close. 1914589_10205953447139725_2471081169323354672_n.jpg

Started work on the car today. Got the motor positioned, leveled and welded in the mounts. 12821529_10205960042624608_5320615001599085794_n.jpg

pulled the front end off. We decided to replace the radius rods, the ones on the car had been dog legged and i was concerned about safety with how fast I intend on this car going. 12722477_10205961144372151_962596721_o.jpg

Also started work on a cross member for the trans/bones/ladderbars. Car looks pretty naked right now. 12675018_10205961144612157_2110662229_o.jpg

  9. Pretty soon u will have all the extra sheet metal trimmed out. That's how I started out on mine trim a little here and there and now all I have left of the stock sheet metal is the out side skeleton. Remember every ounce counts :D

Got the front suspension back together and in the car. We have 11 degrees caster. And the super old school look of buggy spring+ radius rods. Very happy.

Oh Henry, I'm lovin' the J!! What a tough lookin' little machine, really diggin' the tilt front end and the fit/offset of the rear tires. Subscribed fo sho to follow this bad little mofo!

Gotta ask a couple questions: what's the overall flange 2 flange width of the rear axle it came with vs. the width of the one your using and what's the back spacing of the old rear wheels vs. the ones yer using? Also, does the front suspension use stock ford pieces (spring/axle dimensions) or is any of it "dropped".

I'm askin' since your setup looks just right and I'm collecting parts for my own Henry J build up, and I'd like to build a chassis and buy wheels only once! Mines in pieces at the moment and I'd like to make a roller before I go and collect the body.

    Thanks bud,
    Pete

thank you for the compliment. The front end is a stock 1939 Ford truck axle, spring, spindles, and radius rods. Its using pretty much stock Ford parts except it has been converted to disk brakes, prior to me owning the car. Me and a friend (Mike Boerema of Gas Axe Garage) Redid the front though because when i got it the radius rods had been dog legged and i just dont feel it would have been safe. As for the rearend, the Axle flange to Axle flange measures 55 3/4" if i remember right. Im hoping to have it back soon, so i can get to fitting it in the car. The car never had a stock rear end in it since i have owned it so no idea what it would have measured. School is done next week, so im hoping to get back into workin on it. Have a great day, and i hope that helps.

scottinstruction.jpg My Carbs showed up about a week ago, and finally got to dig them out and play with them. Apparently the Canadian instructions are much more thorough then our janky American directions lol Thank you Scott =)
