Hello guys, i just wanna share with you the story about my daily driver....not spectacular modifications like my Fregate, just something cool to ride, and maybe you can discover another unknow Renault...i hope you enjoy ;-).

First, what the fuck about this title "Hi-boy",, hey Ratty, this is a "Customs forum", not a traditional hot rod place....i don't know why Renault name for exportation this French Panel call "Estafette" (the popular name here, in France), but they call "Petit Panel" and "Hi-Boy" for oversea.....if people know truck like this in USA, thanks to share your pictures here....

    This is the exportation ad....

Can't say I have ever seen one of those around here. What year is it? Do you use it for your work? Have you modified it? Can you share a picture of yours?

That's the same cluster as used in the Dauphine, I believe? I've seen photos, searching the 'net for quirky speedos. I couldn't tell if the outer housing was metal or plastic, though?

Yes Ned Ludd, there is a lot of parts use on the Renault Dauphine.....the truck is a metal body, but the roof is original polyester made.....

    Welding holes......

I cant remember seen Renaults like that.I've heard that our cops used to have Renault Goalette's in 60's or something.I guess that was a heavy duty version of yours?

  17. We all know by now that a thread by Ratty will be very entertaining no matter what he's doing so we're on board. So, call this one High Range, or instead of hiboy maybe hi girl. Put a bed up in the top of it!! Whatever, I'm in and can't wait to see what happens next. Tim

Hi Ratty - Count me in on this build! The nuttier, the better. And for us Yanks, the Renault is nutty enough, but a "Renault Hi-Boy," that is nutso to the nth-degree.

  21. Every Frenchman I have worked with has been crazy. Please keep up the tradition and this will turn out as good as your last car. One guy I worked with built up one of these, but cut a section out of the middle, so it was a super-short wheelbase!
What is the law in France in regards to changing the motor, etc? I have heard you can do pretty much anything body-wise, but have to stick to stock running gear.

Haha. Nothing like a white panel van for picking up chicks! This should be a fun project to follow!

Thank you guys for your support. Don't be desapointed if this tread is not like my Fregate, but for me the result is not bad, a nutty Renault, i like that oldandkrusty;).

I know you understand that i do what i do with my low budget, bad conditions, and no money. Thanks for that, you people here are real cool guys:).
The real cool thing to me is to have fun and try to do my best with my situation and location.

I know that this truck is an ugly choice, but here in France, find a 49 Merc or a 41 Ford panel delivery is simply an unicorn, or import cars like that is impossible for me.

So i want to live my dream, my kind of dream, drive my own build cars, not sell them, saw a smile on people faces when i drive my car, and communicate some fun...and have fun with a lot of humility.

This French truck is my daily driver...nothing special, no radical transformations, but promise, for my next project, i'm poke out one of my kidney;)

The rear of the car is smashed in, and there is some square tubes weld on the "roll pan".....

Sometimes i'm feel like a poor lonesome Redneck;)

If this is anywhere near as entertaining as your last build, it'll be a good thread.
