Near lane is John Levins driving the S&S Speed Shop / Pete Van Kirk A/R. Was class runner-up at the 1961 Nationals with Mike Van driving. This looks like Master Field in Miami. Regards, Chase

Dead End Kids at Dover...Anahory, Lang, and Razon....these guys were from Brooklyn NY (thus the name from the old movie series), Fuller car, "Rapid" Red Lang drove....they ran the west coast a lot.....notice the old Chrysler push car behind the fueler......

    SantaAnaDrags.jpg
Jack Chrisman in the Sidewinder racing Hustler II at Riverside. Jack's cousin Art Chrisman drove the Hustler...not sure who won, this may have been the brief time when the Sidewinder ran fuel...it ran well on gas but fuel gave it too much power, and it planed in the lights....

    StellingsMaas.jpg
Larry Stelling car, Butch Maas at the helm...like all his cars, this one was immaculately finished, and ran hard.

    GaryDyer2.jpg
Caption is "Gary Dyer," but I don't recognize the car...not that many cars ran Speed Sport injector scoops...

Waters & Murray...started out baby blue, then got this flame paint...initially flathead powered, then got a stroked 338" Chevy, in '56....since has been either restored or recreated....in blue

    Dragster1.jpg
Benham and Aicher....this was an old race car converted to a dragster by Ron Benham and Paul Aicher, both of who worked at Blair's Speed Shop.....The "Hisso" engine was one of the most unusual engines in drag racing...half a Hispano-Suiza v-8 aircraft engine, used in several WWI American-built aircraft. Later, when the planes were scrapped, both farmers and sprint car builders got the engines which, because the cylinder banks were bolted together, were easy to pull apart to make a 4-cylinder engine. Ron and Paul ran this in the XD class just for 4-cylinder powered dragsters....it has since been restored.

    9763306.jpg
From George Klass...Ted Cyr and Bill Hopper ran many dragsters, this one tends to get forgotten...Dragmaster chassis, Potvin blown Chev ... this is Bakersfield

I think that this is McEwen in Lou Baney's Brand Ford car (both McEwan and Prudhomme drove it)...not sure where this is...

Danny Ongais' original ride, the "Dragmaster Hawaii."

If you raced or spectated in SoCal in the early '60s, you probably remember Willie's Pie Wagon. They raced all over SoCal, this is Ramona, near their Vista CA hometown...

    9617601_orig.jpg
Saugus....very early race, looks like both are 4-banger powered, very minimal roadster bodies...no ID on either....
    Isky%20Clown%202.jpg
Dick Guyette's "Isky Clown" at San Luis Obispo, from the Oil Can files...Dick was a Hollywood musician ...this was an early Fuller car with a gas Potvin-blown Olds....painted bright orange...

I'm pretty sure this is Johny Lopers' factory fuel injected car. You can just make out the F.I. badge behind the head light ring.
