  2. Andy,

Those are the whole enchilada replacement with Drake boards. I had a REAL hard time convincing myself to swap them, but Dad was insistent that I had to. Gotta keep Dad happy.

Dennis Parks captured this shot of @arkiehotrods in his long awaited and new to him '40 Standard coupe during the 3rd Annual SWMO Hot Rod Hundred.

  4. I remember that car! I was in the Rod-Tiques back in the late '70s. I had a '40 Plymouth about the same color.

A buddy of mine has a '40 tudor for yard art. from the road, it looks pretty cherry, but it was in a fire in the fifties, needs a dash, hood and roofskin.

One mans yard art, another's dream project........ I have seen similar hulks salvaged on the HAMB. This car is well beyond the talents of most of us though.

I did the same combination that you are trying to clone. '39 Deluxe hood and hood trim over a '40 standard grill. It works and gives a cool look. I call it a greatest hits of the 39 and 40 noses/grilles. The hood moldings end up an inch short in the center so you need to form a "beak" of some kind to fill the center gap if you shave the hood latch mechanism like I did. I can take some pix of my set up if that will help you out.

I am not going to use the hood molding, I am going to fill and peak the hood, but yes, I would LOVE to see pics of your deal. Thanks, I figured the hoods were shaped differently at the front.

  16. For whatever reason, in the back of my mind, I kinda thought that all 1940 Ford Station Wagons were DeLuxe series. Apparently that was all wrong. I'm not sure that I've ever seen a Standard model. Does anyone have the breakdown of production numbers, DeLuxe vs. Standards? Boston1940s_1500.jpg

  18. So, apparently there were 4,469 Standard Station Wagons built in 1940. No wonder I've never seen one. I thought maybe that picture was of a DeLuxe that was crashed and got repaired with Standard front sheet metal!

  19. Does anyone else own or have pictures of a '40 Standard Station Wagon?

  23. ............Thanks for those numbers. Almost twice as many DeLuxes as Standards. Rare birds indeed.

That whitewall tire/ full moon look sure brings you back to the early 60's.
Lake plugs are the icing on the cake. Love this.:)
