I thought some of you guys might find this interesting.

As a result of several years of dreaming, pondering, finding the right government contacts and generally just charging our batteries for it......... we are almost ready to launch a new breath of life, into the history of Danish beach racing.

Racing has always been a part of Danish motoring but mostly on local dirt tracks. Most of these were shut down during the 50's as a result of the noise "polluting" the ever increasing housing areas. We are just too small of a country for a dirt track to be far enough away from peoples estates :)

In the years 1919-1924, races were put on, on the island of Fanø.
These races attracted a lot of the days "heads" of racing, including Sir Malcolm Campbell and a lot of interesting cars were being raced on the 1 kilometer stretch, on the hard and flat surface that the west coast beaches of Denmark has to offer.
Speeds of around 130mph was clocked before, in the 1924 race, a tire came off of Campbell's "BLUEBIRD" and rolled off to kill a 15 year old boy.

Races of this kind was hereby banned although revivals was tried in 1999 and 2004.

Fast forward to late in 2015, we are a group of hot rodders that eventually put everything into "gear" and landed the necessary approvals for a pre-war style race.
We will be doing a light version this year, to see what kind of interest this will draw, and by 2017 we hope to do a full version, with classifications and prizes.

It is our hope that this will get vintage racing back into the minds of the European scene, as a history to be proud of.

Sounds great. It's cool that you took the time and energy to pull it all together and stage the race again. Sounds a lot like the race of gentleman.

It will be pre 1940 cars and bikes, with a technical and optical appearance up until 1947

  20. WOW! I have walked the beach there. Recall a good cross wind there. Being Danish I would like to have a poster for wall/garage art.
I will try to get a cousin to get me one!

The graphics on the poster are really well done and it turned out great.
It's amassing sometimes when people decide to take the bull by the horns and make something cool happen.
You affords and hard work show the amount of interest you have in making this event a realty for everyone to enjoy.
