So I was vacationing in Mexico last week and I go up to my cousin's grandparents house and use a little restroom they have outside. As I walk to use the John I just smile in disbelief once I see that unmistakable rear end. You can't see the car from the road cause there's an old truck right next to it, (which is cool, too) ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1458864074.126116.jpg

Car has California plates and a Santa Ana plate frame. Pretty cool. I'm gonna try to work a deal with my cousin's great uncle. If i can convince him to sell it to me I'll get it towed to my grandmas house and leave it in the open garage she has until I'm ready to start on it. Keeping my fingers crossed.

  3. Good find there! Hope you get it. How bad is the frame and floor?

Get it and go, guy! I remember laying eyes on that rear for the first time in a Life Magazine ad, when new.
I literally could not believe the ad depiction! Along with the '59 Caddy, among the wildest ever! A true icon.

The California plates should be a red flag. Could have been a car stolen years ago and left to neglect in Mexico.

Not condemning your family here but when you go to register it herein the US it may show up as a stolen car and than the owner of record (not you) can claim it.

    Be careful.

I didn't even check, but honestly if I get it at a good enough price I don't really mind

  10. The outside looks really solid. Floor pans and braces aren't a big deal. I had the '59 parked outside the bar one night. Guy comes out, sees the back end and says"Look at the ass on THAT!"

  11. Keep us posted on what happen with her .O.K.? Thanks. Bruce.

Lets hope you can get the car and get it back on the road where it belongs.

  15. might wanna run the numbers and see if its a stolen car before you drag it back across the border.
people stole cars in the 60's too.

Nice find! I had a 1960 Impala 2 door hard top, it was completely original but worn. It had a 283 and it ran like a clock! I was young and dumb and sold it for no good reason at all! It is THE car that I still regret having sold. Good luck with your car, hopefully things will work out for you!
