Please post threads of cars being chopped here. This is not a thread for " Here is a picture of my chopped car." This is not a thread for " Here is a picture of a car I chopped." This is not a thread for " Should I chop this car?" This is not a thread for " How should I chop my car." This is a thread for How cars are chopped. How you chopped your car or how someone else here on the HAMB chopped their car. With pictures so people can follow along and see were the cuts were made and how the rear window was handled. How things were made to fit together. The reason for this thread is because so many chops are out there that do not show up when a search is made using search woods that you may associate with chopped tops like; chop, chopped top, chopping a top, how to chop a top, chopping a 51 chev and so on. So I thought that if you know of chop threads post the link here. It would also be helpful if you would make reference to the type of car you will find in the link, like; shoebox, 51 chev fleetline, 50 buick sedanette, etc. I'll go first. 40 Plymouth http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/cutting-up-a-40-plymouth-coupe-oh-no.995681/ 53 chev http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/cutting-up-a-53-chevy.999850/page-4#post-11406559 50 Fleetline http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/fleetline-on-the-floor.999484/ Shoebox http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/another-shoebox-goes-under-the-knife.379161/ You can see that the last two would be hard to find in a search on chopping cars. They don't need to be new threads. Please post them. Even if you think everyone has seen it. Post away. Don't worry that someone may have already posted the link. Double posts are just fine.
These are all shoeboxes, and not all chops, but there's a lot of good info in a whole ton of threads here... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/post-shoebox-build-threads-here.908390/ Might have to join the shoebox group to get in, I'm not sure. Even if you don't have a shoebox there's a boatload of useful info that would translate to other cars.
I angle chopped a '28 tudor sedan. Lots of pictures. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/tudor-update-angle-chopping-a-28-ford.377233/
Thanks for the posts, guys. Both are good threads with fine cars. here's another one. Shoebox http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/another-shoebox-build-thread.1001464/
Great idea for a thread, since many chops don't mention that in the title. Glad you have "Cutting up a '53 Chevy", one of the best HAMB chops out there IMO. Bob
Here's a link to an Ian Berky Chop. No chop thread would be complete without it!!!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1936-plymouth-build.845426/page-3
Heres my 53 chevy 3'' chop thread. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/53-chevy-mild-chop-w-a-ton-of-pics.984292/
A whole different way to go about a shoebox chop. You gotta see this one. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/my-shoebox-chop.410348/
Great thread, I spent years researching chops before starting on mine. I should also mention this would never have happened without a great friend, scratchbuilt as he's known here on the HAMB. He spent 6 days here pushing me as hard as he could! This car is actually a 4 door Aussie built Chrysler Royal AP2, these were based off a 54 Plymouth body with different rear windows, front and rear panels (along with a few other things like a factory poly V8 in mine). To get this chop we leant the windscreen back to get the roof down an inch, then took an inch above the windscreen for an over all 2 inch chop at the front. At the rear we took it down 2.5 inches and re-shaped the rear side windows using 2 sets of rear doors. The rear window is technically a 54 Plymouth (it came out of a 54 Plymouth bodied Desoto).

Here is my 4 door 50 Merc. Still in progress. Last half of the thread is when we started our 3 1/4" front and 4" rear chop http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/new-to-me-50-merc.966866/

Nice projects, rustryder, but this thread is about the "how to" threads of chopping cars. Can you post a link to how these cars got to where they are now?

I'm certainly watching this thread. I'm eventually going to chop a very difficult car so bought two books to start the process. How to Chop Tops by Leroy Tex. Smith not sure of the date and How to Chop Tops by Timothy Remus 2007 Both are getting me in the correct direction. This thread will really help Thanks--- great idea. Movin/on
Here are some pictures about 61 years old or so of my34 being chopped for Jerry Berg's build of the Northern Star.
This thread is open to anyone who wants to post a link to Model A chops. I just have not moved to them yet. Still looking at the fat fender chops. The more posted links put in this thread the better. Just remember the rules: "links to chopping cars, not pictures of chopped cars."
I don't know how to post a link (thru the phone app). The thread on my Model A "A Full Fendered Side Project" has some pretty good chop coverage.
