Hello Everyone I just purchased this 27 roadster body from fellow HAMB member "-J-" for my wife. -J-, Thank You! I'll make you proud! She has always had a desire to build a roadster and when I ran across the HAMB post listing it for sale, I got excited. The body is extremely solid but, there is rust through on the cab and trunk floors. This is all repairable and the sheet metal is already on order from Howell's sheet metal. But first, it's going to Restoration Specialists for a soak in their rust removal tank.
looking good....should be a fresh start when you get it back from the dip....don't hesitate to keep us posted!
How are you doing. I met you at the HAMB lunch and Hoppersteds over the winter. How is the truck coming along?
It's slow going but, moving along, here the link http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=433245
I thought this was a good deal, I saw it over the winter and wondered why the hell it was taking so long to sell, I thought of buying it myself........ Best of luck and keep us updated..... James
Well, it's been a month and it's finally back from Restoration Specialists. I was told it sat in the tank for 5 days. Honestly it's not as bad as I thought it would be. Now it's on to ordering the panels from Howell's Sheet Metal. I'll order the 26/27 Model T Ford Rear Quarter Panel Patch Roadster (Bun Panels).
Sweet! I've got one next on my list. That body looks pretty damn good. If you don't mind telling, how much did it cost to have it dipped? -mikethegreek-
Ooof! No, not cheap but sometimes you have to pic your battles. You're ready to start patching. On a side note, I see you are also working on a '34 pickup. I'm trying to finish my '34 ( chevy) pickup so I can start on my roadster. What are the odds?!
You might want to talk to Howell's on the phone before ordering, don't just send the money. They did me right, but went to their shop in person. Lots of other folks haven't been so lucky lately. The good: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=426563&highlight=howell The bad: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=439908&highlight=howells Don't want you to get the ugly.
Finally making progress on the 27. Received the bun panels from Howells. One side is welded in and the other side will be shortly. As all of you may know I tried to sell the 27 but, the deal fell though and now she's on her way to back to life.
How is the 27' coming along!? I'm excited to see it getting worked on at least. Still bummed it had to go down the road, but honestly it would still be sitting in the same spot if I had it. No time.
Well here we go, just as we finish up my 34 pickup Andy at Kohler Kustom has started working on my wife's 27 roadster. Picked up a set of 32 rails and flat cross member from JW Rod garage. Along with a "T" rear cross member I got from Andy, he's already fabricated the parameter frame and boxed it.
Motor & trans (351W & C4) are mounted. Starting to take shape. My wife is really loving the progress on her 27.
