Hartwell & Frontuto bought the car from Ed, kept the purple (really lavender) paint....and the steel body.

  3. Dean are you talking about the car that my Mom is with that may have belonged to Hartwell in the pic above or another car on the thread ?

  4. What magazine is this from and do you know who is racing ? I can't see the name on the side of the purple car who the owner was it won't let me zoom in . I see a white helmet in the pic my Dad's helmet was plain white until he had the money to have it customized to the purple Yogi helmet . I don't know how common plain white helmets were

Dean - this picture contributed to our TwoToGo web site from Tommy, a picture taken while he was on tour with his Twin.

I am not sure, but it would be a good guess -- because as Dean Lowe noted, Ed Taylor took the blown Olds out of the lavender Austin and put it in his modified roadster, and as this photo shows a Chrysler, I think it would be when Hartwell and Frontuto owned it....

Don Yates drove the Mikkleson Brothers car, to a questionable 9.44 in '55, later the car would get a tail and baby blue paint, and ran Bonneville.

Dean Lowrey at Colton, around '55. Pretty rare then to see a blown Chrysler.

Bernadini Brothers, though I'm not sure the brothers owned the car when this shot was taken...if I remember right it went to Northern California...it is now perfectly restored

The talk around Indianapolis back then was that Les's death was the reason Jerry Harvey lost his desire to race. I know he continued but he really enjoyed playing golf much more.
