This might be a dumb question... but what is the piece of steel - round in the center, machined flat on either end that passes through the poly bushing on the control arm below. I would refer to it as a machined inner bushing sleeve / mount... but that is tough to search. The image is from a corvette c5 - if that matters - just looking for the name of the part so I can describe it to others. I'm spent a few days making these for a new suspension design and would like to see if anyone out there is making them. I have flexibility in my design to use something 'off the shelf' if it exists... thank you dave
Believe or not it's called a T-Bar. I believe you can even by them as a kit now a days. Back in the day it was called a T-Mount type shock. couldn't buy the T part separate at that time. We used to use a big press to remove them from worn out shocks to use for some custom designs. Maybe someone else has some input also.
Kept thinking "trunnion"....but that doesn't quite seem to fit, or maybe it does, IDK Short of calling it a "control arm bushing mount" maybe look for a site that shows the 'Vette parts diagram to find out what GM called it.
thank you... i've done some searches on T bar, cross shaft and a couple variants and it looks like QA1 keeps coming up - along with some off road stuff. Point of clarification - the initial image was taken from the 'net - it's a C5 mount. I did not make that part. My design is for a crown vic front upper control arm. This part will complete prototype #3 and ready to go into production of a narrowed crown vic crossmember for 1948-52 for trucks. Others to follow. Thanks again for your collective help in identifying the T bar / cross shaft. dave Cocoa Beach FL
