I didn't even notice the jet until you pointed it out (with my glasses on), hell, I had to expand the photo to see the Pikes Peak sign.

Full history from the Forgotten Jets site:
Typical end for a lot of vintage aircraft that were put on display back then with the best of intentions. My family hometown of Paducah, KY had a B-17 that was put on display at the local airport in 1946; by 1950 it was only fit for scrap - even the wheels from the landing gear were stolen. :(

I'm gunna say it's NZ from the number plates. I'm sure one of our Kiwi friends can confirm and maybe even suggest where on the shaky isles it might be.

  5. I noticed the driver's were on the "wrong" side both on the road and in the cars.
The only thing that confuses me is the 57 Ford. Australia didn't ever build that body style. For 57 & 58 the Aussie's continued to build the 55-56 body style.

Conjures up an image of a B-17 parked in a bad neighborhood up on blocks. LOL How do you get B-17 wheels off without special equipment?

… not an expert here on the topic of old school pin stripping, but one would think that any long lasting integrity of applying a lacquer paint or enamel over an exiting assumably lacquer paint job would be minimal at best. So what kinda life-span would this pin stripping job have and would it easily chip or peel ?

Not sure about the scallops, but the striping paint is quite possibly enamel. One-Shot has been around a long time! I've never striped over lacquer, but the stuff holds up really well on everything I've put it on!
