Great build, clean and simple. Roller and soon to be driver already. Good job getting it on the road and driving, instead of going over the top on the first build and having a garage anchor. Put some miles on it and have fun, plan the next rebuild. Theres always a rebuild. Looks like you have access to some good shops and equipment. That will go a long way. Keep the updates coming.
The way she sits is great as it is but a leaf in the rear wouldnt hurt. That windshield angle is perfect too. Awesome build!
Put a flex hose in that fuel line, as it will stress crack in a short time. When the engine moves, the body doesn't. On the #2 valve, what did you find? (varnish on the stem/guide? Hope there wasn't a dislodged valve seat in the block...) Very nice project. You kept a cool head and went about it with efficiency, confidence, and accrued volumes of knowledge. I was young when I did my first 3, but had older guys around and it was in the time window of 'bangers and flatheads. Some of you young guys amaze me!
Hey 4barrel, Very nice build! In response to your rear leaf spring question I think part of that decision will depend on how much distance you have between the top of your axle tube and your frame. The stance looks good, but it also would be nice to avoid excessive bottoming out as well. Post this measurement and let the forum give a bit of feedback on expected suspension travel.
Thanks for the responses boys I'll post the measurement tomorrow Mike I found varnish on the stem of the of the valve so we took it out cleaned it and lapped the valves.. So far so good ! Haha
Sorry boys not quite on the road yet should be pretty soon no real new news. Sealed the gas tank, painted the front end and put primer on the grille shell to see how I would like the red oxide.. I think I will be splashing that on the car this year and working the kinks out of the drivetrain. Other than that running the wiring harness, adjusting the brakes, putting a clutch in it since I don't know the year and condition the old one is ( all I know is last run up and down the alley I could smell it) and making sure everything is tight and cotter pinned. I'll get some recent pics and post them up
Roadster looks great. Give us a straight on side shot as long as the curve of the rear wheel well is above the wheel your good to go, in my opinion anyways.
Sorry for the stale posting here fellas lost motivation for awhile and haven't had a lot of free time but we're back on track now Picked up a couple intakes for it this Evans is probably my Favorite out of the bunch have to find another 97 for it (would love 81's but don't got the cake) just going to down jet them and going to have to fab up a header for it and going to have to take out or relocate my sediment bowl.. Opinions ? Got some old Chrome for the banger so we had to throw that on.. Still need to find more! Got the body blasted so now where getting onto final fitment of the hood and final little adjustments and then on to paint.. Your A looks good and for your age you are making good progress. Be sure to use a epoxy primer so your car won't rust. Some of the other are pours, and will let moisture thru. I am watching Frank
