Is that a smoke hanging out of his mouth or something in the distance? Marlboro man riding a horse smoking is one thing but smoking while driving a car at 60 plus with no windscreen? Priceless.
Howzit Bandit Billy...Good Eyes Man...Super Cool Car!....Super Cool (dead?) Dude! No Windshield and He's definitely having a Smoke! Must be El Mirage...? Dusty,,,
I thought someone would post some info on the #20 So-Cal A/Modified roadster by now. It was owned by Keith Baldwin who was a mechanic at SCSS & Bill Barker and ran 129.15 in 1952. I believe that's Bill Barker driving. They were part of the 4 car So-cal Speed Shop racing team that was very successful at the lakes. Mick
You guys are talking about safety and how he (maybe) died??? How about how he LIVED! Incredible photo and awesome dude I am sure...
Thanks Lurker Mick!!!...Awesome info! Didn't mean anything bad with the (dead?) remark...(It's just not that Cool to smoke anymore..) I'll continue my research and hopefully the Life of Keith and Bill and the number 20.
I know it's uncool and unhealthy to smoke and have short roll bars but damn if this guy doesn't rule.
This Guy DOES Rule! Smoking was Good for You back then - And the car / driver is equipped with state of the art safety features...back then. Roll bar - Engineered Steering Wheel - Hard Hat - Safety Goggles - Respirator (Cigg) - Racing Jacket - Asbestos underware ? - you name it!
I can't help you with info on that car. But I can tell you it's bad ass, and that driver is one cool Mo-Fo! I feel that bad ass every time I get behind the wheel of my old car. Lol His is one more cool cat, that are the only one that can go up against Steve McQueen and not come up to short.
I've done my share of bench racing but looks like Johnny Weissmuller here ^^ could bench a flathead. Of course it probably takes arms like that to hold yourself into a car using a "spoke grab" with less body wrapped around you than a HD road glide.
Wow..Well worth 20 bucks! That Nose is Cool!...definetely hand pounded! Sorry for the fold...Magazine was in almost mint condition,,, It's filled with Speed Rods from binder to binder.
