  2. Thanks for the post.
That car is too cool - you built it, you can fix it, wind in your face.
Self reliance, finger in the eye of the man! Keep it simple!
And my old A walked all over the road too. That's character...

The steering wheel is on the wrong side?

  3. Neat man..................great vid

  4. ..."Occasionally you get the rears locked up and come into a corner sideways, but that's character..."

    Haha! Love it!!

    Keeping it simple is my mantra.If I can't fix it,I really don't want it.Simple,like a brick or a hammer.

On the splash guards/shields where the running boards go, what year/model did you use? If I have a 30-31, will the ones you used work the same? I like the highboy look with the shields and would like to use that on my car.

The shields differ from 28/29 to 30/31. On ours we have the 28/29 (that came with the car) you will notice that they are a bit longer and sweep up inline with the carb. The 30/31 shields are a bit shorter and sweep up inline with the front of the cowl. I would definitely run the 30/31 shields (if you can find them) they have a nicer sweep/curve rolled into them and look far neater with how they align to the front cowl. I'm sure you are aware of Brujo29 tub ("The Jingle Town Special") - he runs 30-31 shields as shown below:

    Crackett!

    sweet ride

Please don't EVER lose the "wander of it all, as life viewed from the dash-rail of a rolling A"

gotta say though ...as I'm sure ya know, lose the 7-tooth and find a '30-'31 and get some adjustment, and heck it really is no biggie to build your own set of brake equalizer floaters(that F!at He@d THed kit is crap!), and remember allow for "0 slop" in steel from pedal to wheel(ehem... with actual cast drums), chamfer the leaves, rebuild those lever action shocks....
and you really WILL be good to FLY with your finger held HIGH:D

  19. Even better; swap in a 33-4 box. Bolts to the A frame by using a model A sector housing;

The 33-4 shaft is about 2.75" shorter than the 28-9 shaft if you need more room; or you could lengthen the shaft to suit. In my T, I needed a few more inches to clear my knees, so I pressed the worm onto a 38-9 shaft (about 2" longer than the 28-9 A shaft). Aside from much better steering, the added benefit is a taper ready for the 32-up tapered & keyed steering wheel.

Great thread about being creative ! Just for information, Jingle Town was down on Fruitvale in Oakland Ca. The area is still there.

Skookum... I thought we only used that old Indian word here on the west coast (or the land next to the Skookum Chuck)!

Keep in mind when sourcing shields (aprons) that the 1930 is in two pieces and the 1931 is in one piece.
Edit : Just thinking out loud here. Using a set of 1930 aprons would allow you to easily adjust the length and the two pieces ( or three, if lengthening ) could be melded into one.
