That Model A Sound........What can you say?

  9. A while back I had to buy some parts from NZ, the manufacturer had me order them through a guys speed shop there and they were here in 6 days. These guys build a lot of great hot rod parts and are a joy to deal with.

Having lived in Oz, I make a bit of an assumption that this car is completely unregister-able in Enzed.
That is part of it's charm actually, a moving middle finger to the nanny-state.

Didn't Pete Shaporis (sp) do that some 30 years ago? Nothing new out there.

P.S. I love both of cars!

Very cool stuff, makes the statement you don't have to be a financial wizard to enjoy this hobby. Joe

While we don't have as tougher laws regarding cars in NZ I think you are probably correct on this one.

Back in the mid 50's here in the center of Ct every farm kid had one or two and even those not farm boys had them for local woods running..Mostly 30-31, one guy [neighbor across the street from me now] had an Av8 and maybe juice brakes..Used to go out street raceing now and then, held his own....My brother had a 29, banger, mech brakes..Just a cowl and a couple seats..Was hairy enough to thrill the five year old in me....

Have seen much less roadworthy cars legal here in Auckland New Zealand, like an original 1903 curved dash Oldsmobile and it could be seen as a restoration with minor modifications.
Refreshing change to some of the high dollar cars with poor taste.

Cool! Thanks a lot for sharing the clip. If I remember right the HAMB was a great source of info/inspiration for him during the build so sure he'll be stoked to see it on here.
Not legal as yet no, but that's the goal. Nice guy and good to see his outlook appreciated.

The best word I can think of of simply, "Cool." What's not to love. If different is better that car is the absolute best.

    A tribute to us 'tubsters'!
That was Pete's partner Jake, Gary. Painted it red with a brush outside the gate of the Fathers Day swap meet.
Later sacrificed most of his HRM duplicates to 'Jake-o-page' it!

    Right on!

We started with a '46 deck lid, four '16 Maxwell doors, and a Model A cowl skin for ours.
