As a full-time lurker, I have to admit to posting 3 times on this thread. Heres why:
Steve does the complete job, not taking short cuts, applying design skill, not just mechanical skill to problems. Its a learning experience to see how a pro takes a project to completion. Its really easy to tear something apart, its really difficult to build something from scratch. This is a thread lots of folks use for inspiration, thats why I follow it, and hope to see more...

Steve, we are following, mate, and hope you will do us the great favour of updating here....

You nailed the very reason I put it here bud, if my thread inspires just one person to take on a project it makes it all worth it !!!
I'm just a enthusiast like most people on here, I love to see interesting build threads here also, I don't diffentiate between steel or fibreglass as in my opinion both have s lot to offer, we can never have too many build/tech threads.

    Steve
I've been "Jones' n" for some hand whittled alloy goodness from North of London.
Any progress on the shifter for the hydro?
How's that Odyssey blower drive coming along?

Maybe I missed it, I recall you saying something about making a shift handle, back when I commented about your choice of shifter and I submitted the photo of that B&M hydro shifter.
Sorry bout that, I had major neck surgery three days ago and the meds apparently have got me a litle "rummy", completely spaced that you already did the blower drive.
I went back and looked and enjoyed those old photos again.
    Glad your back.

I'm a lurker mostly and don't feel I should waste space with a compliment unless I have a follow up question. Forgot there is a like button and don't think about using it. I enjoy Langy's work and I swear he doesn't know any other metal exists other than stainless steel. Hope you keep posting langy.

I don't post much either but have been following this thread since the beginning. There is a lot to learn here. This is one of the threads that makes me want to go out in the garage and work on my own projects. I do appreciate your posts Langy.

This may help others hanging doors Willys, the original Willys hinges are £400 a set so quite spendy, an alternative I found is the Speedway budget hinges which are available in steel or polished stainless but are slightly lighter duty, built my coupe and the truck with these hinges but I noticed the hinges flex which allows the door to drop ever so slightly which is slightly annoying !!! Anyway I found a solution [IMG]

My fix was to double up the thickness which is not a problem as the original willys hinge is thicker anyway.
The hinges tend to flex by the hinge point shown in the pic below

Next I cut a piece of 3/16 stainless flat plate and tig welded it to the existing hinge flap., a bit of blending and fettling and it was done.

I only strengthened the flap that fits to the door as the body side has inherent strength due to the shape, bolted them back on and got zero flex

Well a bit of an update, been poncing about with the crap that loosely resembles the doors !!! these are probably the worst mouldings i've ever come across, there is no way they would ever have fitted the cab, they resemble willys but are so far out of shape its soul destroying, anyway after a few weeks of adding bits here there and everywhere and moving sections of the door around they finally fit pretty well, you can see where parts have been added. The gaps are set roughly and require final sanding but are basically there.

Heres a short video of the doors working

Nice solution on the hinges. With as close together as they are you could see how a little flex would be a big issue.

Finally the Langy drought is broken! Good to hear from you again Steve. Another well thought out and executed fix ( the hinge) and your usual fiberglass magic. Thanks for sharing with us again.

Yeah it certainly looks like a patchwork quilt at the moment but you have to look beyond that, soon no longer an ugly duckling !!!
