Not sure if this a repeat of already posted news, but I just read in the Vintage Motors Sports newsletter that Jim Travers died this past week at age 95.

RIP to one of the greats.

According to stats, that should be midget driver Al Keller in what looks to be a Tucker Torpedo #66, and Andy Granatelli in his home built job in which he crashed and broke his arm. Neither of the cars made the show. Probably a good thing!

Another loss of a major figure in innovation. But he's back in "Thunder Alley"! RIP

I ran all my customer engines for 10 yrs in the 70's and early 80's on the Traco dyno and got to know Jim & Frank , two great guys with a ton of engine info and such a great history

Sorry to hear of his passing, and he sure put his big mark in the sand

    R.I.P. Jim

    Sincerely Don Nowell

So I thought I would post this request again and see if anyone new would answer. I'm looking for information about Mack Terry of Tulsa, OK and later Torrance, CA. Mack drove for both Pete and Red Forshee in 1960 and 1961. I am told he built his own sprint car for the 1962 IMCA season which may have carried the #77, livery unknown, but the car could have been blue.

Sometime in 1962, he moved to Torrance, CA and ran the car in the CRA at Ascot during the 1962 - 1964 seasons as the South Bay Auto Body Sprinter. Sometime in 1964 Porky Rachwitz took over driving the car and in early 1965 the car was retired.

I know there's a picture of the car out there somewhere, I just need to find it! If anyone can help fill in the blanks, I would be greatly appreciative.

This is the original Kurtis chassis the team bought in '48. They then built two "copies" the next year. Quotation marks, because they weren't really copies, they were visually and technically completely different, yet they are often confused.

Here's an article about Rex Mays death at Del Mar that I found while going through my archives. Thought there may be some interest. It was printed in the San Diego Union, October 20,1987 as an announcement for the Camel Grand Prix of Southern California.
