Technical where does this go on a 1955 ford customline

we are putting back the 1955 ford customline and mounting fenders and radiator and what not and i have a couple donor cars and there are these two metal pieces and for the life of me i can not remember or figure out where they go, if in fact they belong on the 55. it appears to be a right and a left, i am thinking some type of splash pan or such. thanks for any help

They mount to the frame down low between the radiator and the engine

 

Maybe on either side of the radiator to the inner fender?

Splash shields, they mount to the front part of the frame rails and splash pan I believe...

If you've swapped in a later Ford motor, when you pull the filter the oil will on this and go everywhere.

 

I have them on my 55 with a 351-W and not much oil spillage when changing the filter,they do come in handy when dropping a tool.
