Is it strong enough to pull the hood release lever back to the latched position? I have to remember to push the handle back in.
I always have to push it back too but I think the cable is just old. I just ordered one from Shoebox Central, hope its better.
Just a couple updates. Started blocking after the chop. Getting ready for paint. Gonna try out a Hot Rod Flatz Wimbeldon White.
Nice work !! I think your color choice is going to look awesome. I have wanted to see a shoebox in a hot rod flatz white.
Does anyone know where I can get new glass channel for the modified glass that doesn't have the stainless insert. I'm not planning on putting it back but I still need new rubber. Any help is appreciated.
Big A recommended a company called Restoration Specialties, thats where he bought the window channels.
Thse guys have everything you need, and they know their shit... http://www.restorationspecialties.com/
Just finishing the windows and garnish. I'm having a hell of a time finding new window rubber. I don't want to re-install the old stuff and I don't really want the stainless molding back around the glass. I'm looking for just a flat molding. Anyone know where I can find some? My daughter wanted to get in on the build
Nice 51. Wish I had the metal working tools to do a chip on mine. So far on mine there is a 302 with an aod. Updated the front end with the help of shoebox dropped it 3" all new steering dropped the rear 2". Exhaust work done and working on rewire then paint. Can't wait but doubt I'll make the round up this pic is before drop work.
So I found the rubber and cut the glass. The molding I found is off a 71 Volkswagen bus. It's really soft so it makes the tight corners really easy. I'll post pics when we install it in a few days.
Thanks for the updates Danny. Every time I research chops I always come back to your thread.. it's perfect in my eyes and hopefully I can replicate it on mine some day.
So I decided to defer to a specialist to cut the glass and install the front windshield. I couldn't be more disappointed. $500 later and two weeks and this is the finished product. Looks to me like he cut the rubber too short then tried to fill the gap with caulking. It looks terrible and the guy won't return my phone calls. Guess I'm gonna have to do it right myself. Super bummed.
Well, bright side... Your glass is cut?!? Too bad you're out the money for the rubber and his labor. Yelp that one... Let everyone know of your pain!!
Oh my god, that is terrible !! Sorry to hear that he screwed it all up for you. I can't believe he didn't even use black caulk or urethane to bridge the gap. That guy is a total tool. I would keep trying to contact the guy to get him to fix it, even if it means paying for another seal. Make him make it right. If he won't come through for you, show it to , and tell EVERYONE about his shoddy work and bad attitude. Bad word of mouth travels faster than good word of mouth. Karma is a bitch !
