Just think of how many cars we treasure today were beat to death in demo derbys over the years! But what the hell, it was a shit load of fun and I did it too! My buddy ran a 57 Chevy convert that he welded a top off a 57 Bel-Air more-door on! Damn we were stupid ! Now most guys would give a testicle for either one.

My one and only trip to Lions Drag Strip on a Saturday morning in early 1972 was a brief exposure to amateur drag racing, BUT, there was a unpainted rear-engined dragster on rollers, just like in this photo, which might be Lions. In 1972 rear-engine dragsters were all new and very rare. I wish I knew who the driver was. So close to a big-name driver and not knowing all these years.
