  1. ^I would say that is a 1942 Ford in post [HASHTAG]#106459[/HASHTAG], so the photo is newer than 1940.

  2. It is a Packard Twin Six.

  3. That's not a Pontiac, it is a 1928 Cadillac Town Sedan.

  4. Looks to be a Schacht, from about 1909. There is a 14 hp 183 cubic inch flat twin engine under the rear of the car.

    swi66, The ElectroVair in your post [HASHTAG]#106464[/HASHTAG] is on display in the GM Heritage Collection. I spent a few minutes looking at it a few weeks ago.

  12. Hey Gary, I really liked your group of Superior/Meteor bodied specialty cars. I've wanted another ever since I sold my '54 Packard in the early 80's. A friend and I built the red party wagon out of the blue derelict hippy van in 1980.     Sliverplate;
    My Dad bought his 1950, 1953 and 1962 Studebakers at Rathkamp Motor Service listed in the Studebaker ad that you posted. After Studebaker went out of business it became a foreign car repair shop. Two friends bought used Triumph TR3s from them in the late 1960's.

    It was an interesting building, one "drive in" door at the street with a couple of floors in a parking garage layout. The last time that I went by there (several years ago) it was still standing.

    Sheppard Service on Edwards Rd. became a Mercedes Benz dealership, no doubt due to the Studebaker/MB relationship. When my Dad retired he bought a 1972 MB 280SE sedan from them. They moved out of their building many years ago but it is still there, occupied by a non automotive business.

    Today I acquired a number of drag race pictures from 1970-1977. I have to edit many of them but I will try to eventually get all of them posted. These are from Southwest and central Ohio,Kentucky and Indy too. Tri State, Hamilton Ohio...Edgewater, Cleves Ohio, National Trail Columbus Ohio, Shelby raceway, Kil-Kare and others.

    1963 in Latexo, TX. I love old pics of gas stations, reminds me of my youth travelling through small towns in New England.

    I used to live there, I ran the warehouse that used to be a K-mart when we had a project building the Coker VDU at the Phillips plant 05-08.

    Thank you for the reply. My 64 Avanti was purchased new by the first owner at Sheppards. In addition to Studebakers and Mercedes it was also a Checker dealer. It was last occupied by a Piano store. It has been torn down about 2011 or so...Mike

    … yeah Stogy, the HR photo is dynamite. Just looking at her and that car for a while and imagining just how hard it must of been to turn the steering wheel, it's really just a better mobile version of a tank. Guess one would get it rolling then once that happened, steering would follow ?
