Do repro 40 (and maybe 37's) bumpers look better than they used to? I remember they didn't have the proper roll on the edge, looking rather flat. If you are trying to find an original bumper, then just ignore me.

  3. The repro chrome ones are good, I believe it's the stainless ones that look like you described.

Wow, that looks pretty good as it is! I had a 57 Chevy Windowed Sedan Delivery that I ultimately sold because it was just too nice for a slug like me! Now my 40 and 49 are perfect for me what with their nicks and what-not.

Hey! That's my car! I was trying to get the car ready for our local winter "indoor" car show when the shot with no hood was taken. I'd taken the old rad up to B&R radiator to get fixed up around Christmas time and he thought he could fix it. Well, after he got into it he found out he couldn't fix it for a reasonable price. I was in a time crunch and just ordered up a Champion rad from Mac's. I really wanted to polish the brass top of my old rad but it wasn't to be. I actually agree with you on hitting the ally one with some black but I was just running too short on time. It's going to have the hood on it most of the time anyway. I really try to keep it as traditional as I know how but I'm on a budget too so there you go. I have to say that the Champion rad fit like a dream and is much, much lighter than the old brass one. I can live with it.

Yeah, it was going to be close to 600 bucks to fix the old one. More than I wanted to spend. Oddly enough, at the before mentioned show I about wore out the hinges on the hood from people wanting to see the old flatty in the thing. The engine bay really cleaned up pretty well and it seemed lots of people liked looking at it and talking about it. I'll be the first to admit this isn't really a show car but still it is 76 years old and lots of younger people were all smiles looking at it.
