I love it. Brush painting might be a great option for the whole body, and you can actually get very nice results that way if you do it properly. Seems like the "broke kid in 1950" way to do it, unless you've got a paint sprayer attachment for a vacuum cleaner, that was popular if you didn't have an air compressor.
My Dad painted cars with a brush before WWII. He used to say "Long horizontal strokes, and go fast enough to catch drips with each pass" And here is a color. C.

Just got it out on the street!! Runs great!!Next, paint and cowl flames.. Got up to 42 degrees today--warmest it has been in 2 weeks----expect 12 inches of snow in 2 days--back in the shop

Drive over to Maaco.....take off the windshield.....put the rear end on jack stands, and remove the rear wheels......open the doors (like 2")......mask off everything you don't want black.....tell them to spray the body black (single stage). I personally would skip the flames.
50s cars came a lot of ways. paint no paint custom paint, it all depended on the place that the builder found himself in. Which is why I say look at old photo albums so you get more than a Socal Snapshot of the over the top cars that were around. Hot rod magazines then are like they are now they print the uncommon and always looks for something that no one else has in print. Something else to remember is that twice in the '50s there was a recession the last one toward the end of the '50s was a lot like the one we are trying to overcome now. Hell I remember a sweet A closed cab that was still in Red Led into the '60s and would have stayed that way if the Ol' Man hadn't had a gallon of lacquer under the bench at the shop. I think that people who have not been there look at "Leave it to Beaver" and "Happy Days" and think that is the '50s. Funny you don't see anyone in an iron lung or in braces in either one of those shows and no one ever gets quarantined for Scarlet Fever. Guess the '50s that I remember is way different than the way that they remember them in Holley Wood. Ah hell I went off on a tangent. @bangerbob like the little roadster, probably not what I would build for myself, but I damned well like yours. Drive it like you stole it instead of got it from your granny.
Nice little ride, maybe you can find a Kirby of a Hoover with the sprayer attachment. If you do, don't forget to include a video! Enjoy Sir
