Rdy for paint. I built this like it is 1950, I am 18 years old and grandma died and left me her Roadster.
built like I have no money
juice brakes, Snyder 5.5 head, homemade intake with 6 cyl carb, B-distributer, Mexican blanket seat cover, Model T windshield pivots, 16 inch wires hotrod 001.JPG

Looks great Bob! Doesn't always take a big bankroll to have a cool rod!
    Nice job.

It runs great!! Put 20 miles on the running chassis last summer before I found a body. Paint a satin black with hand painted flames on cowl and a white firewall

  9. It's already painted!
Just paint the tank the same color and you are done!
Remember you are 18, and you wanna drive not paint!

Nice car! If I read your post correctly you built this car AS IF you were 18,had no money and grandma left you her roadster? Am I right about this?

    BB,
You are a witty Hot Rodder!!!! I definitely like your sense of style....I could've said grandma's but I'm not sure if this fictional grandma was your paternal or maternal grandma :) ;). Definitely a TROG kinda build.

  16. Hey BB.
I don't know a whole lot about anything,
but in 1950, not a whole lot of Hot Rod A's had flames.
That sort of got started in the late 50's.
And the magazine cars the rich kids had
were the ones that got the flames.
Again, that 18 year old, unless he was an artist,
wouldn't have spent time on flame painting,
he would have spant it on driving around looking for tail!
IMHO you will spoil your car with flames.
Check out the 50's period Hot Rod threads
on here and you will see.
    It's been about 12 years that I've been 18
years old and it's 1952 for me so I think you "get it"
    Drive it don't flame it.

Cool ride ya got there . I'd say paint it something simple, in a period-correct color. If it was just a car you got from grandma and you had no money, you had no money for a cool flame job. All you'd have done was ripped off the fenders and best on it :).

On a side note, back in the day, my grandfather used to glue pin-up girl pics on his old Fords . He always told me how embarrassing it was for his dad when he used his car . I can imagine, LOL ! I have pics of a couple of my grandpop's cars , but none with pin-up girls on them :(

Buddy you are making me think--what would be a period color? Also the flames will be " hand painted" by a artist --scrap dealer in a small town near me

  28. Got to start somewhere! Looks like you're off to a great start! Congratulations and keep building "bad looking" hot rods.
