A couple years ago I was working on an old Ford, and pulled apart an 1850 holley, and put it in the Chem dip. And forgot about it for about 1-3 months. So I pulled it out, cleaned it off and put it in a box. Now I need one. Is this one worth rebuilding, or will it be too porous to seal and work . any thoughts or comments. I have more, so its not a big deal, just cleaner than the rest.

I've never done that before, so I don't know for sure, but I would think it should be fine. Is there visible etching/corrosion on the gasket surfaces or anything?

Yes I would say it's ruined. I did that to one of my carbs but my was partially submerged and you can tell the difference between the two areas.

Hang it on the wall as a reminder to not do it again, its history.

I don't know what is in chem dip these days but in high school auto shop in 1973 one of the students left a carburetor in the dip over Christmas break. When he pulled it out all that was left were the steel and brass parts. It was most impressive.

It does have visible pitting. Not totally dissolved. dip was old. I may play with it just to see, but won't count on it.
