I figured this truck is fairly HAMB friendly, it is off to the upholstery shop now. 1935 Ford pickup 302 SBF toploader transmission and 9" rear. Smiths electrical gauges and lucas switches.
We got the truck back from the upholstery shop, the pleats and door pockets and the rest of the interior look great the keep with the cobra feel with the layout. This is a driver truck so we tried to keep it all fairly basic. the motor is a 302 stroked out to 341. Ford toploader transmission. The rear end is from a 66 Galaxie patrol car 3.73 locker rear end. We have put a few miles on the truck test driving it when there is a break in the weather. getting ready to ship it back to the owner in the next week or so. I will post some pinstripe photos later today just the Ford logo on the tailgate and two subtle belt line lines.
If you are wondering why the running boards are coated, the owner went to a few truck shows with his grandkids and they were tempted to step on the running boards to look into the bed. This truck is built to haul the grand kids and their bikes around town as well as picking up the christmas tree every year.
The 35 pickup made it to the GNRS, the owner of the truck called me and said he was waiting in line to get in yesterday.
Will that be his first look, at GNRS?? That would be cool! Nicely done Rex! He's going to feel great every time one of those said grandkids step on the boards!
That is an amazing job on the firewall, excellent looking. It must be a mustang toploader perhaps, judging by the short tail shaft? Is it awkward to shift with the lever so far back? Very curious about that setup.
Initially we wanted to move the shifter forward some more, or install the Jeep shift tower. Working with the parts we had it was easier to leave the shifter in the mid mount position and slightly modify the arms. The shifter enters the cab a few inches in front of the seat, and operates fairly smoothly. The owner informed that his truck received a Ford in a Ford award by street rodder magazine and it won its glass out at the gnrs. Now he said it is time to load up the grand kids and have some fun with it.
I saw the write up in Street Rodder magazine last night. Thanks for the awesome pictures here, whoever did the SR article didn't do the truck or the work nearly the justice it deserved.
I haven't seen the SR article yet on the 35. There have been a few bugs to work out on the truck, We didn't fully test drive the truck before it went out to CA. snow and time were an issue. The owner of the truck has been great, he has been working on chasing all the bugs out of the truck and putting a few miles on it as well.
