Had this for years, 6-71 & a fresh engine added last year. One day it will be done enough to paint one color.

Ok so after going through all of this I have one question
How did some of you fit a 460 in the front end of one? Like what are you using for a steering setup I would like to see. A 460 isn't smaller than an fe but I can't seem to fit a fe in mine.

My truck has the front frame horns cut off at the front axle, reversed, and flipped upside down to lower the truck. That made it possible to use a 460 with the stock steering, stock suspension.

Here's a pic - not the best angle but you get the idea:

I did eventually have to get a pair of re-arched springs (Eaton) to replace the old ones that had several leaves removed by the P.O.

You know for the longest time I didn't care much for that stamped front "jailbar" grill while the rest of the truck waz fine.
They reminded me of the not so popular Dodge, IH, etc models that did a similar front end.
Recently I had the chance to help a fellow do some work on a '46.
    Well, they grow on you.
They are not and never will be a '40 or '41 but get inside and drive one and you forget about the front face.
They are like all early trucks, fun to drive! :)

  25. Passed on a 47 a couple years ago and was happy at the time because it led me to the 39 that I did. They're still kinda ugly but so am I... And more than 1 person has accused the Snoopy nosed 39 of the same offense.
If I see a good deal on one I'll still buy it.

    IMHO
Beauty is factory colors. Ugly is bold bright yuk. Especially weird two-tones.

Anybody know if they sell patch panels for the front fenders? My drivers sides pretty far gone on the bottom.

The trucks aren't that pretty. I still love mine, probably never get rid of it. Me and my buddies made a joke out of mine and occasionally call it a jeep. They really do look similar without the chrome bars on them.

They are pretty simple to make if you have a brake and a shrinker, just finished mine today!
I also made the inner braces too.
