Hey Rocketeers! I've got a vintage McBar Machine Shop adapter bellhousing for Rocket engines to '50s/early-'60s Ford T-85 style trans (including their OD manual transmissions). McBar is one of the pioneers of adapter bellhousings. The bellhousing has been glass beaded and then finished with Lamar Walden's concours-quality "reskinning" process to close the pores of the surface and make it look like cast aluminum, not that white, unnatural luster bead-blasted aluminum always has. It was then put on Walden's CNC mill and the mounting surfaces true'd. The block side was true, the face was out of true .002-.005, and was given a .005 skim cut to make everything square and true. Bolt holes were re-spot faced, threads were chased; all are good--no helicoils installed, or even needed. While not truly NOS, this is as close to NOS as you'll find: The only thing missing is the box. The dark spots shown on the freshly-machined face are very small voids, typical of '50s casting standards. Dark spot on upper right bolt hole is a drop of oil I missed. Perfect condition, true and square, needs nothing but to be bolted to your engine. $350, plus the ride. Can also be delivered to The NE Georgia Swap Meet, Spring Commerce Swap Meet, or Gear Jam Vintage Drags.
Just came across this out in the shop again--forgot it was there! You can't throw a lugnut at a swap meet without finding one of those Ford transmissions... Even came with OD!
Back to the top. This is the nicest vintage trans adapter you'll find. Happy to listen to reasonable offers!
