Jim Hurtubise leaves Dayton Speedway the hard way 1960. For others this had been a death sentence, Herk walked away.

Love looking at these ole sprint and midget pictures. I raced 1/4 midgets in the late 50's here in Northern Ohio for 5 years. My dad helped build the dirt race track. I can remember going to watch a midget race with my dad at the old Akron Rubber Bowl where a driver by the name of Gays Biro won the feature. Wow what great memories this brings back!

    Rootie,
Didn't Herk end up in the trees?

I never knew Elmer put a Chevy in the new Meskowski. When he sold it to John Pfrommer in mid 1963 it was back to an Offy.

My Father and I are restoring the Sister car (Circle 3) to the Orchid colored V8 car in these pictures. The V8 car was driven by Al Ketter. He lost his life after an accident he had with it in McComb, IL.
The Circle 3 car we have was driven by Al's brother Clarence "Beef" Ketter.
As soon as I find some time, I will post pictures of the Circle 3 car.

Looks like George didn't have much luck with the Chevy and went back to the Offy for the last 2 races in 62. Of course he crashed badly at Phoenix and never drove that car after.

    Rootie,
this is the Meskowski car which I thought was new for the 63 season. I thought he crashed the older car, frequently listed as a Watson, but has some other pedigree. (Watson did a rebuild on it I think.)

The Tommy Copp picture is the HOW meskowski car in 1964.

I'm not 100% sure about any of this, but for consideration: The first pic is another from the 62 Hoosier Hundred with the Chevy. The second shot is from Sacramento about 6 weeks later and it is now Offy powered and you can see where the hood was modified to cover up the Chevy injector holes.

I love to see the cars in action, but any photos of them under construction or repair are really appreciated.

Wouldn't be the first time that's happened. BBQ grill grates work well also.

Did E. T. Morse run two cars for a while? I was thinking he had a newer Grant King car by that time?

He scored points in 68 for both the #20 car and the#91. The #91 car was the ex-K-E-Y spring front car and the #20 car was a 4-bar.
